The Slovak Pediatric Society (SPS), with over 1,500 members, is one of the largest SLS professional companies. Its history and creation are closely connected with noble goals and the foundations of its predecessors. The Czechoslovak Medical Society of J.E. Purkyně (ČsLS JEP) was founded on June 30, 1949 at historical gathering of the “Association of Czech Physicians”. Slovak doctors in Slovakia and pharmacists started organizing JEP in ČsLS in 1953, when the Slovak Committee was established ČsLS JEP and academician Šiška became its first chairman. Slovak Medical Society (SLS) was established in 1969 in connection with the federal arrangement of our state and the 1st congress SLS delegates was held in April 1969. The Slovak Pediatric Society (SPS) and the Czech Pediatric Society (ČPS) formed together with the Czechoslovak Pediatric Society JEP until 1973.
The Pediatric Society of Cyprus was founded on January 29, 1969 and was the 2nd Medical Society founded in Cyprus after the Surgical Society.
The Pediatric Society is a member of the Association of Pediatric Societies of the Middle East and the Mediterranean UMEMPS , the Union of Pediatric Societies and Associations of Europe UNEPSA- EPA ( European Pediatric Association ) , the International Pediatric Association IPA and the European Confederation of Pediatric Specialists CESP- EAP ( European Academy of Pediatrics ).
Over a period of 40 years, he organized over 35 local pediatric conferences and many seminars. In 1996 he organized the 23rd conference of the Union of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern countries which was a great success.
